Announcing the release of My Bookshelf (Sept 2008) -
This program is designed to provide a fun environment for those who are in need of practice using switches for activating various augmentative communication devices. With this application, those special needs individuals who are developing skills with switch activated devices will find their practice time entertaining and enjoyable.
With My Bookshelf, a user interface is provided to easily display your images and play the associated audio files. It is easy to assemble practice sets for providing ample content for enjoyable switch use. For example, a favorite book can be scanned, recorded and then the user can switch activate the movement between page images, while listening to the audio for each page. Early learning exercises can easily be incorporated, such as using a series of images of geometric shapes and or primary colors.
The program is designed to be used with a computer that at a minimum has a 2.40 GHz Pentium IV CPU, at least 512 Megs of ram and with Window's XP or higher. It is recommended for an enhanced user experience that 1,024 Megs of ram be used. Please note that performance when using My Bookshelf with large image and audio files is directly related to the amount of ram and the speed of the processor. In other words, the faster the processor and more memory you have the better the performance you will experience.
